The terms, stated plainly.

Corner Research suggests roads. You drive the car. Everything below is downstream of that sentence.

1. You are the driver

The app proposes routes and gives turn-by-turn directions. It does not know the weather, the surface, the traffic, the wildlife, the cyclist around the next bend, the state of your tyres or the law where you are. You are solely responsible for how you drive, and for obeying every speed limit and traffic law that applies to you.

Nothing in this product is an invitation to break a limit or drive beyond your ability. Drive Score measures the road, not you: it is derived from road geometry and quality, never from how fast anyone drove. We do not record, rank, reward or publish speed anywhere, and we never will. There are no segment times, no leaderboards ranked on velocity, and no achievement in this product that can be earned by going faster.

Do not operate the app while the car is moving. Set up a drive before you set off, and let voice guidance do the rest.

2. Route data is imperfect

Roads come from OpenStreetMap and from our own curvature model on top of it. Both are wrong sometimes. A road may be closed, seasonal, gated, private, unsurfaced, unsuitable for your car, or a road you should not take at night in the rain. A road being in the app is not a representation that it is open, legal for you, or safe. Judge the road in front of you over the line on the screen, always.

Coffee shops, opening hours and destinations are also third-party data and are also sometimes wrong. Call ahead if it matters.

3. Group drives and push-to-talk

A convoy is a private group you chose to be in. Do not use push-to-talk to harass anybody, to coordinate racing or illegal driving, or in any way that distracts a driver from driving. Audio is not recorded, which means we usually cannot investigate what was said — so the rule is enforced by the group leaving and blocking, and by us removing access if we learn it is being abused.

Live position sharing in a convoy is not a safety or emergency feature. It is ephemeral, suppressible and switchable off, and it must never be relied on for anyone's welfare.

4. What you make is yours

Your logbook, your drives, your recap cards, your car and your photographs are yours. We claim no ownership of them. We need a narrow permission to operate the product — to store a run so a share link you created can open on somebody else's phone, and to show your display name and car to the other drivers in a convoy you joined — and that is the whole of it.

Your recap cards are unwatermarked, full-resolution and yours to post anywhere. Nothing you make is put behind a paywall later.

5. Sharing a run

A share link publishes the route of a run as planned, including its start and end. Trimming the connector legs at either end so that what you send is the good part rather than your street is the intended behaviour and is not built yet. Links expire on their own after 30 days. Anyone with a link can open it, so treat one as public once you have sent it — and, until trimming lands, treat it as showing where you set off from.

6. Use it in good faith

Do not:

• scrape, resell or redistribute the routing engine, the road data or the survey;
• automate requests against the app or the API beyond ordinary personal use;
• use the product to organise racing or timed runs on public roads;
• upload content that is unlawful, or that identifies someone else without their agreement;
• attempt to defeat rate limits, access other people's data, or break the service for others.

Reasonable rate limits apply to the API and to the demo on this website. They exist so the service stays up for everybody.

7. Beta software

Corner Research is in a private beta. It will have bugs, road coverage is incomplete and expanding region by region, and features may change or disappear. It is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law where you live allows that.

8. Money

There is nothing to buy today, and this website shows no price and contains no paywall. The planning, the navigation, the logbook and everything you create are free. If a paid membership ships later it will be announced on its own terms, and it will not retroactively take away anything that was free — least of all anything you made.

9. Ending it

You can stop using Corner Research at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access if the service is being abused in a way that endangers people or the service itself.

10. Changes

If these terms change materially we will change the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
